Oh head covered with blood and wounds,
full of pain and full of insults!
Oh head, wreathed for mockery
with a crown of thorns!
Oh head, once splendidly adorned
with highest honor and adornment,
but now outrageously abused,
be hailed by me!
When at last I must depart,
do not depart from me!
When I must endure death,
then stand by me!
When my heart reaches
its most fearful state,
snatch me out of my anguish
by virtue of your own anguish and pain!
